Heading up to Papallacta Pass, November 2006. The scrub and grassland at this elevation provide habitat for tawny antpittas, paramo pipits, andean tit-spinetails, carunculated caracaras, bar-winged and stout-billed cinclodes, and Ecuadorian hillstars.
At about 12,000 feet on Papallacta Pass, November 2006. Stumbling around in the mist looking for seedsnipe. We did eventually come across a pair of birds about 100 meters below the radio antennae station.
